'Cooking For Our Neighbors' (in replacement of the former Share-a-Meal) is looking for groups who would be willing to sponsor a month to make and freeze 150 meals to be distributed to community members experiencing food insecurity. Sponsoring groups of 10-12 will select a meal from a predetermined menu, and may work varying shifts of an hour to several. Also, the group can choose to help to pay for ingredients not provided by bulk donation, prepare, cook and assemble the meal to be put into individual freezer containers at the Sprout Kitchen. All meals are prepared and then frozen at Sprout; a volunteer will later bring them to the Drop-In Center in Little Falls.
If your group would be interested in participating, please contact Samantha Barron at [email protected] or, call and leave a message at: (320) 630-0163 to obtain details and available months. We are currently scheduling one meal per month. Groups may choose a cooking date during their selected month which will also need to be coordinated with Sprout Kitchen. Thank you for all you do to make our community a better place, Oasis Central MN, Sprout, Purple Carrot Food Cooperative, University of MN Extension SNAP-Ed Program, and The Morrison County Drop-In Center. A production of the zAmya Theater Project, A Prairie Homeless Companion is modeled after the well-known radio show A Prairie Home Companion. With music, bad jokes, and real stories, in zAmya’s version, a theater company from the city presents a show with a quaint depiction of small-town life in Miserable Falls, Minnesota. But the actors find a very different reality than the community they’ve been spoofing. Residents of the town take over the show and tell more realistic stories.
For more information see: https://zamyatheater.org/prairie-homeless-companion Each March, a team of volunteers puts on the Empty Bowls soup and silent auction fundraiser to support the work of Oasis. Guests receive a handmade bowl and nine varieties of unlimited soup, homemade bread and desserts. All funds raised will benefit the outreach of Oasis Central Minnesota works to help the hungry and homeless in our community.
